Since its inception in 1989, In His Image (IHI) has brought medical care and the love of Christ to the far reaches of our hurting world. Our short-term overseas trips include free medical clinics, disaster relief, orphanage ministry and a special emphasis on medical education. Numerous times each year IHI sends teams of doctors, residents and nurses throughout Asia and Africa to hold week-long healthcare conferences and consultations. Medical education, along with spiritual emphasis impacts medical students, nursing students, faculty, practicing physicians and national health officials. These individuals, unfettered by language and culture barriers, are able to share what they learn with many others. Medical lectures, hands-on workshops, and informal social meetings are some of the creative ways IHI reaches healthcare professionals in these countries. The week long conference culminates with a seminar on ethics, family issues and entering into a personal relationship with Christ. A key outcome is self-sustaining Christian medical fellowships led by those who came to Christ during a previous IHI conference.

Location(s) of program: Rotations in Afghanistan, China, Honduras, Kazakstan, Macau, Papua New Guinea, or as planned by the resident.

Description of field experience: Two to four week trips in October, November, March, April, May.

Description of didactics: In His Image has a Medical Missions Track to provide guideposts and direction for residents who want to prepare to become a medical missionary to medically underserved people internationally and/or in USA.

Cost to individual resident: Varies by location and duration.

Description of faculty involvement: An IHI faculty member or alumnus leads each team. In addition, IHI co-sponsors residencies in Afghanistan, China, Kazakstan, Macau.
