Special Populations

Administration on Aging (AOA) -- The AOA has developed a nationwide network of State and Area Agencies on Aging and Tribal Organizations. These Agencies plan, develop and support comprehensive in-home and community services that create opportunities for active older persons and meet the needs of older persons at risk of losing their independence.

Frontier Mental Health Services Network -- The Network is a consortium of nine university-based state/local government-based and independent experts from a variety of mental health/substance abuse-related fields. The mission of the Network is the collection, analysis and synthesis of knowledge regarding needs for and delivery of mental health services in "frontier" rural U.S. counties.

Indian Health Service (IHS) -- The IHS is a an agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and is responsible for providing federal health services to American Indians and Alaskan Natives.

National Center for Farmworker Health (NCFH) -- The National Center for Farmworker Health, Inc., is a private, not-for-profit corporation established in 1975. It's mission is to improve the health status of farmworker families through the appropriate application of human, technical, and information resources.

Office of Minority Health Resource Center -- The Office of Minority Health Resource Center was established by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health. Information resources on minority health include databases, scientific reports, journals and documents.

Rural Center for AIDS/STD Prevention (RCAP) -- The major focus of RCAP is the promotion of HIV/STD prevention in rural America, with the goal of reducing HIV/STD incidence. RCAP is a joint venture of Indiana University, Purdue University , and is funded in part by the Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services (SAMHSA) -- SAMSHA is comprised of three Centers that carry out the agency's mission of providing substance abuse and mental health services: The Center for Mental Health Services, the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention, and the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment.

The National Women's Health Information Center -- The National Women's Health Information Center is a project of the U.S. Public Health Service's Office on Women's Health and Department of Health and Human Services. It provides a one-stop gateway for women seeking health information.

United States-Mexico Border Health Commission -- This is a binational commission that was appointed to identify, evaluate, prevent and resolve health problems that affect the border populations.
