Process and Timing:
Call for entries are solicited in the fall/winter. Top five finalists are determined by a panel consisting of the immediate past chair of the Commission on Membership and Member Services; current member of the Commission on Membership and Member Services Executive Committee and the current Family Physician of the Year. Final determination is made by a panel of outside judges.

- coordinate media training
- prepare a script to be used at award presentation
- prepare news release for distribution in recipient's hometown newspaper
The AAFP Staff Award Coordinator will:
- order award (Waterford vase)
- coordinate travel arrangements
