Hours:
Monday - Friday, 37.50 hours per week. Additional hours as required.
Travel:
Approximately 18 - 24 days travel out-of-town per year
Summary of Responsibilities:
This position provides strategic direction for the AAFP’s Continuing Medical Education (CME) / Continuing Professional Development (CPD) product line portfolio and brand strategies. The incumbent will directly supervise professional and administrative staff, and will work closely with CME / CPD program / product managers across the organization, and faculty (speakers, authors, editors, advisors, etc.) as well as ABFM, ACCME, Alliance for CME, AMA, CMSS, and others, to advance the objectives of the Academy, and the profession.
The incumbent is responsible for leading the annual and ongoing strategic planning processes that guide the overall brand strategy of the AAFP’s extensive and diverse CME / CPD portfolio. Such activities will include market / competitive analysis, benchmarking, product line positioning and pricing, revenue forecasting, expense projection, and resource allocation. These activities are essential to assure that the AAFP continues to optimally support the educational needs of its members and other learners in maintaining certification / licensure, and in optimizing practice performance / patient care; and that it does so in a manner that is fiscally sound and aligned with the other strategic priorities of the Academy.
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
It is anticipated that the successful candidate will have earned a Master’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Education, Medical Management or Health Administration; a doctoral degree in Medicine or Education will be beneficial. The position requires excellent skills in market / product line analysis; forecasting, budgeting and financial management; business development; and program / product management; change management, negotiation, coalition building, and interpersonal communications.
The successful candidate will need a working knowledge of family medicine, ACCME Essentials and Standards, Commercial Support Standards, and Maintenance of Certification for Family Physicians, as well as extensive knowledge of CME / CPD, likely gained through a minimum of six to eight years applicable experience in leadership of the design and delivery of CME / CPD activities that are learner-centric, needs-driven, evidence-based, outcomes-oriented, contextually relevant and cost effective.
Additional qualifications include proven ability to successfully oversee multiple responsibilities and priorities, and to supervise staff and influence peers in a manner that equips them to work productively in a complex, dynamic environment.
