This program provides information to help family physicians assess the development of their pediatric patients and identify any developmental delays as early as possible. It describes available developmental screening tests, as well as laboratory tests that can be used for diagnostic assessment once a developmental delay has been identified. This program also reviews key developmental milestones for children from birth through 5 years of age, signs of central nervous system (CNS) dysfunction, and red flags for delays in language development.
