Vaginal Cancer

The AAFP recommends against screening for vaginal cancer with the use of pap smears in women who have had hysterectomies for reasons other than cancer.

Visual Difficulties, Adults

The AAFP concludes that the current evidence is insufficient to assess the balance of benefit and harms of screening for visual acuity for the improvement of outcomes in older adults.

Visual Impairment, Children

The AAFP recommends screening to detect amblyopia, strabismus, and defects in visual acuity in children younger than age 5 years.

Vitamin Supplementation, Cancer and Heart Disease

The AAFP concludes that the evidence is insufficient to recommend for or against the use of supplements of vitamins A, C, or E; multivitamins with folic acid; or antioxidant combinations for the prevention of cancer or cardiovascular disease.
