Antibiotic Prescribing by Primary Care Clinicians
Study Description and Methods
We seek to test an effective strategy for reducing the inappropriate use of antibiotics in primary care office practices. In this randomized control trial, we aim to identify a strategy to decrease the emergence of antimicrobial-resistant bacteria in the community by primary care clinicians.
Specific Aims and Objectives
Our specific aims are:
- Reduced use of antibiotics to treat conditions for which those drugs are known not to be effective.
- Decreased prescribing of broad-spectrum antibiotics to treat common bacterial infections.
Timeline
This project was conducted from July 1, 2009, through December 31, 2011.
