Hepatitis C - Evaluating the Clinical Usefulness of a Shared Decision Support Tool

Study Description and Methods

In this study we evaluated the effectiveness and usefulness of a Hepatitis C Decision Support tool among primary care clinicians and their patients. This Decisions Support tool was developed to assist primary care clinicians in the treatment process of Hepatitis C.

Specific Aims and Objectives

  • To discover the barriers to effective management of hepatitis C in family medicine.
  • To facilitate communication and support the healing relationship between physicians and patients as it pertains to the risks and benefits of antiviral treatment for hepatitis C infection.
  • To give patients the information they need to make an informed decision about antiviral treatment for hepatitis C.
