Immunizations in Primary Care Study
Study Description and Methods
This study is a pilot test of a Web-based electronic system designed to calculate the actual costs that practices incur when providing different types of immunizations. The purpose of this project is to determine the feasibility for using this electronic system for tracking immunization data and to gather information regarding the barriers that practices encounter while using the system. This research project is being conducted by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) National Research Network (NRN) and the State Chapters of the AAFP.
Specific Aims and Objectives
The specific aims of this project are to:
- Determine the feasibility of using an electronic system for tracking immunization information at a practice-level.
- Understand the barriers that practices encounter while using the electronic system for tracking their immunization information.
- Determine the usefulness of the electronic system for tracking immunization information in primary care practices.
- Determine whether facilitators trained in the electronic system are helpful to practices while they are using the system.
Timeline
This project is being conducted from January 2010 through December 2010.
