Peers for Progress
Study Description and Methods
This project investigates the impacts of peer mentoring on diabetes management. From 15 different practices of the WellMed Group, eligible patients will be paired up with peer mentors and the effectiveness of peer-led interventions in improving metabolic control, self-management behaviors and quality of life will be assessed.
Specific Aims and Objectives
The principal aim is to evaluate the effectiveness, reach and costs of a promising peer-led diabetes intervention, the Carpeta Roja (CR), with an insured, mixed racial, middle-class population with poorly controlled diabetes.
Timeline
This project will be conducted from May 26, 2009 through October 31, 2011.
