Parents and Children

The following resources are available for family physicians to share with parents and children. They are provided by AIM and some of AIM's educational partners.

F is for Fitness -- This 16-page book teaches children about the importance of fitness: physical activity, nutrition and emotional well being
Make a Change for Family Fitness -- These videos promote a non-diet approach to healthy living and encourage families to be physically active, eat healthy foods, and strengthen their emotional well-being. Available in English and in Spanish.
Tips for Healthy Children and Families -- Developed by AIM, this is patient education information for families that encourages making small, everyday changes to eat healthy, move more and relax.
Familydoctor.org for Parents and Kids -- The AAFP’s patient-focused Web site offers health information for the whole family. Find information specifically for parents, kids and teens.
Kidnetic.com -- An interactive Web site designed to encourage healthy eating and active living for kids ages 9 to 12 and their families. It is also a resource for health professionals and educators to use when working with patients and students.
Max’s Magical Delivery: Fit for Kids -- A fun, interactive DVD targeted to children ages 5 to 9 and their families, developed by the Department of Health and Human Services and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality in partnership with Discovery Networks, U.S.
3-A-Day of Dairy -- This Web site offers tips, tools and information to encourage daily consumption of dairy to build strong bones for life.
U.S. President's Challenge -- The United States President's Challenge is a program designed to help people get fit. No matter what activity and fitness level, the President's Challenge can help motivate Americans to make being active a part of their everyday lives.
Ways to Enhance Children’s Activity and Nutrition (We Can!) -- We Can! is a national program designed to bring resources and messages about children's activity and nutrition to parents, caregivers and youth ages 8 to 13. This program is made possible through the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Keep informed about We Can! activities by signing up for the quarterly In Action eNewsletter.
