Carrying Family Medicine's Torch

AAFP President Ted Epperly, M.D. has hit the ground running championing
family medicine's role in the quest to reform health care. In his president's address to AAFP members in San Diego, Epperly laid out a blueprint for transforming the health care system and called on FPs to "push as we have never pushed before" for change. In an interview discussing ideas for health care reform with Kaiser's Health08 Web site, Epperly stressed that primary care should be the "solid foundation" and the patient-centered medical home the "building block" for reform.
