Special Olympics and the American Academy of Family Physicians have created a unique partnership, combining their special expertise and access to people with intellectual disabilities.The AAFP answered Special Olympics' call to action to address key findings from Special Olympics' experiences and research that found people with intellectual disabilities badly in need of health care and healthful physicial activity, and health professionals generally under-prepared to provide such care.
