Protecting Children and Families from Tobacco: Leadership Advocacy Training
The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), American Academy of
Pediatrics (AAP), American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists
(ACOG), American College of Physicians (ACP), and the American Medical
Association (AMA) collaboratively selected more than 50 physicians from their memberships to attend a leadership advocacy training in Chicago on September 23-24, 2011.
In addition to improving tobacco cessation efforts, physicians were instructed in media training, working with state and local organizations, and advocating tobacco control policies, such as reducing secondhand smoke exposure.
