In the past, opportunities for residencies to participate in the AAFP NRN have been limited. Now we are excited to announce a new opportunity for residencies to join and actively participate in the AAFP NRN.
Through the AAFP NRN's new Residency Branch, residency practices can receive active support for their research mission -- by taking advantage of new educational activities and by actually engaging in research. The Residency Branch of the NRN will be become an integrated system of learning opportunities and support for research development.
The Residency Branch is an emerging, developing concept. Briefly, our goals are to:
NRN Residency Branch
- Enroll into the NRN a sufficient number of residency programs that they can form a separate division of the NRN;
- Develop an integrated research program that includes
- research curricula for residents and faculty (both in person and on-line),
- a system to support development of study concepts,
- a system to determine logical research locations as studies are developed (while this may be the AAFP NRN, it could be that a regional network would serve as the coordinating center for some studies), and
- research support to complete studies that may extend beyond residency offices.
