The following documents include policies and agreement templates that the AAFP NRN uses to facilitate collaboration with others.
Policies of the NRN

Publication Policy -- The AAFP NRN wants to make preparing publications as efficient and conflict-free as possible. Especially with the large number of collaborative studies we undertake, it is important to set some expectations and guidelines ahead of time. This policy explains publication expectations, roles, and timelines for those involved in studies. Investigators for each study will either agree to follow this Publication Policy, or will develop a mutually acceptable publication policy prior to the academic dissemination of information for all studies in which the AAFP NRN is a partner.

Manuscript Management -- The AAFP NRN expects to publish the results of every study conducted by our investigators or in our network. While the Publication Policy describes when and how this should happen, this Manuscript Management Policy provides details about the writing process we follow and coordination needed to ensure that our writing projects progress and meet deadlines. This writing process was developed to facilitate the timely dissemination of research findings in the academic press, to reduce stress, and to increase communication among the various people involved in AAFP NRN studies.

Affiliation Agreement Between AAFP NRN and Regional PBRNs (Template) -- The AAFP NRN wishes to form collaborative affiliations with regional primary care PBRNs in order to facilitate knowledge sharing in the areas of research methodology and biostatistics, facilitate resource sharing in the areas of information technology, network management, and communication; increase the number of potential participants in any given study; and increase the diversity of the population of patients cared for by the combined network members. This document is a template agreement defining such an affiliation. If you want to further discuss affiliation or would like a Word version of this file, please contact us.
