The recertification examination is being prepared by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). Although the general areas of content have been announced, the questions on the examination are confidential and have not been made available to any organizations, societies or schools preparing "Board Review Courses." Although the AAFP Program Planning Committee has developed this review course independent of the ABFM, they feel confident that this course addresses the breadth and depth of family medicine. Physicians considering taking such a course should realize that as a result of this confidentiality, the course cannot be uniform and cannot purport to anticipate the examination's actual content. Attendance at, or completion of, this course should not be misconstrued as a guarantee of success in the upcoming recertification examination.
