The following guidelines were designed to facilitate the application and review process for introducing the ALSO Program into a country via an established sister organization or other entity.
All interested entities are required to submit a written application or proposal to the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) ALSO Advisory Board for approval. The proposal is to include the following information:
International Guidelines
- Date of request
- Name of the individual completing the application (please include title and relation to the organization).
- Brief description of reason for the request.
- Objectives for the program.
- Projected training and implementation plans.
- A statement of any desire to translate the ALSO materials. All requests to translate ALSO materials must follow the Guidelines for Obtaining Permission to Publish International Translations of the ALSO Materials (attached).
If the proposal is approved by the ALSO Advisory Board, a member of the Board will be appointed to act as the liaison between the Advisory Board and the sponsoring international entity. The Board will also appoint an ALSO Advisory Faculty member who will be involved in all aspects of planning the preliminary ALSO course in the sponsoring entity's country.
AAFP staff, in consultation with the representation of the ALSO Advisory Board, will negotiate a business arrangement based on the needs of the international sponsoring entity. A royalty fee will be determined by the AAFP for each proposal.
The AAFP’s sister organization (if any) in the sponsoring country will be contacted by the AAFP prior to the signing of any formal agreement.
Please forward the requested information to:
