Joint Injections

Thursday, October 2, 3:30 p.m.- 5:30 p.m.

This course will include didactic discussion of the indication, contraindications and complications of joint injection. Participants will have the opportunity to practice injection techniques on shoulder, knee, hand wrist, elbow and foot models.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify the clinical indications for joint injection.
  2. Identify anatomical landmarks for joint injection.
  3. List the contraindications for joint injection.
  4. Debate the effects, mechanisms of action, and different categories of corticosteroids.
  5. Summarize the post-injection care and possible complications.
