Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, you will be able to:
  1. Compile and utilize an appropriate disease management strategy for patients with some of the most common disorders, especially as visits for such conditions are increasingly common.
  2. Recognize and treat potential S. aureus or MRSA infections before they worsen, which may require a skin culture to positively identify the type and source of infections.
  3. Counsel patients on proper methods of conducting a skin self-exam to detect potential cancers or irregularities that require early detection and treatment (sometimes by a sub-specialist).
  4. Apply newly learned procedural techniques for the treatment of skin diseases.
  5. Utilize different wound closure materials, evaluate patients' risk of infection and other complications, and prepare to refer for surgical consultation when necessary.
  6. Address patient questions and concerns about appropriate aesthetic procedures and use of particular products.
