Important Dates & Reminders

December 2012
Conference registration opens.

Speakers presenting at both PDW and RPS will receive a discount code in December to waive one registration fee (must register for both conferences).

January 25, 2013
All required forms and presentations are due.

Honorariums are not available for these conferences.

March 4, 2013
Hotel reservation period ends for conference rate rooms.

All speakers are responsible for their own travel, hotel, and registration arrangements.

FAQ Information for Speakers


Workshop FAQ Information

Applies to all PDW and RPS workshops.

  • Please be in your assigned room at least ten minutes before your session begins.
  • Laptops are not provided for any speakers. *If you use a Mac, a Mac adaptor (provided by you) is needed to connect to the LCD projector.
  • Wireless internet is available in all meeting rooms and there is an internet cable connection at the speaker podium. To ensure the fastest possible connection, it is suggested that you use the cable connection if you are showing websites or online videos during your presentation.
  • The following audio / visual equipment is provided in each room:
    • Lavaliere microphone
    • LCD projector and screen
    • Flip chart and markers
    • Speaker podium
  • As workshop sessions are often located in rooms next to each other, please keep the noise level of your session to a respectable level.
  • Your workshop session should not exceed 60 minutes in length. Please be respectful to other speakers and your audience by managing your presentation and audience questions accordingly.

PDW Innovation Showcase FAQ Information

  • The Innovation Showcase discussion forum is held on Friday, April 5, 2013 from 2:15 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
  • This discussion forum is held during an unopposed time slot which is dedicated to the Innovation Showcase.
  • The Innovation Showcase consists of ten speakers each having five minutes to give an oral presentation.
  • Questions from the audience are delayed until all presentations are complete. This allows approximately 20 minutes for questions.
  • You have no more than five minutes for your Innovation Showcase presentation.
    • You have a podium on which you may place notes.
    • A timer is provided and will notify you when your five minutes have expired.
    • At the end of your five minutes, your microphone will be shut off.
  • You are not allowed an electronic presentation of any kind.
  • Please follow these guidelines when preparing your speech:
    • State your name, program, and location.
    • Explain the problem / issue you addressed with your innovation.
    • Describe how your innovation addressed the problem / issue.
    • List the outcomes of the innovation.
    • Share your assessment of the innovation: what worked well, what changes you would make, and suggestions for others.
    • Be energized and “sell” your idea.
    • Be prepared to field challenging questions from an interested but maybe skeptical audience.
    • Practice your presentation to ensure you will not exceed five minutes.

PDW Poster Presentation FAQ Information

  • You are responsible for bringing your poster to PDW as shipping arrangements with the hotel are not available.
  • Posters are displayed on 4’ high by 8’ wide fabric bulletin boards. The recommended maximum poster size is 3’ high by 7’ wide. Thumb tacks will be provided for you to hang your poster.
  • A pocket will be available on the bulletin board for additional handouts.
  • In addition to the physical poster, an electronic copy may be posted with all conference handouts. To participate, submit your electronic copy by January 25, 2013, by email to pdw-rps@aafp.org.
  • There is no dedicated time for you to staff your poster; however, you are welcome to staff your poster during breaks.
