What is ALF?

The Annual Leadership Forum (ALF) is a leadership development program for chapter staff, chapter-elected leaders, and aspiring leaders. The program allows participants to learn new strategies and techniques to succeed, build stronger relationships with peers and AAFP leader, refine leadership skills, and cultivate new leaders.

When should I plan to arrive and leave?

Chapter staff are encouraged to take advantage of pre-conference training sessions, starting Wednesday, April 24 at 1:00 p.m. The Elected Leader — CEO Forum begins on Thursday, April 25 at 9:00 a.m. The last ALF breakout session ends on Saturday, April 27 at 11:30 a.m.

How do I get to/from the hotel from the airport?

The Kansas City International Airport is located about 30 minutes from the hotel in downtown Kansas City. Taxi rates are normally $2.50 plus $2.10 per mile and may vary depending on traffic. A list of shuttle services and providers can be found on the KCI website.

What should I bring?

Bring your laptop or tablet, printed handouts (handouts are only available online after April 10), business cards, and samples of best practices to share. Be sure to download the event app. ALF registrants were sent information on accessing the app on April 15. More information will be available on-site.

What is the dress code?

Business casual for the sessions, and casual for the Welcome Reception on Thursday evening.

When is the exhibit hall open?

Thursday, 12:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.

What restaurant and entertainment options are available?

A list of restaurant and entertainment options is available. The ALF/NCSC event app also features local attractions, shopping, and additional restaurant selections.

Will there be session evaluations?

Yes. Speaker, session, and event evaluations will be available online. Each attendee will be emailed the link to the online evaluation on the last day of the conference. We appreciate your valuable feedback about the speakers, session content, and conference activities.

Who should participate?

Chapter presidents, presidents-elect, and chapter executives are strongly encouraged to attend. Many chapters also send their professional staff to participate in the wide range of sessions.

ALF also provides a great orientation – with targeted breakout sessions on chapter leadership, advocacy, and communications – for emerging leaders serving on chapter boards.
