National Conference of Special Constituencies (NCSC)

NCSC provides an outlet for change by addressing issues specific to special constituencies. Are you a special constituency? Learn more.

Celebrate diversity while strengthening your leadership skills. At NCSC you will:
  • Meet fellow members who share your concerns.
  • Create resolutions and suggest policies and programs.
  • Participate in reference committee hearings and vote on resolutions (modeled after the Congress of Delegates).
  • Enhance your effectiveness within your local, state, and national AFP.
  • Take ideas and action steps back to your chapter.
Many of the initiatives launched at NCSC have influenced AAFP policy. NCSC attendees elect leaders to the AAFP Congress of Delegates and the AMA Young Physicians Section (YPS), as well as advocate for issues important to members like you.

Past topics include:

  • family medicine promotion through patient education
  • racial and ethnic health care disparities reduction and elimination
  • support for civil unions
  • third party payor influence on clinical practice change
  • increased public awareness and education on medical homes vs. retail clinics
