International Medical Graduates (IMG)

- fits the definition for the constituency (those who have completed medical school outside of the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico);
- is registered for and in attendance at NCSC;

- and conforms to the expectations and regulations of the position.

New Physicians

- fits the definition for the constituency (those who were first eligible for active membership in the Academy less than seven years ago);

AAFP Bylaws authorize the election of a candidate for the New Physicians Director on the Board of Directors for a one-year term. The requirements to run for the New Physicians seat are as follows:

AAFP Bylaws authorize the election of a candidate for the New Physicians Director on the Board of Directors for a one-year term. The requirements to run for the New Physicians seat are as follows:
- be an Active Member of the AAFP;
- be first eligible for active membership in the Academy fewer than seven years before being seated by the Congress of Delegates, and are not currently nor have ever served as the Student, Resident or New Physicians Board member;
- must have previously attended at least one NCSC;
- must be in attendance at the NCSC during which they are running for the position;
- submit a form declaring their candidacy accompanied by a curriculum vitae and a letter of endorsement from their constituent chapter;
- cannot run for other offices (constituency or AMA-YPS Delegate or Alternate Delegate or Board approved constituency Co-Conveners) during the same NCSC.
This means that the New Physician director must have become eligible for active membership in the Academy (graduated from a family medicine residency program). Exception: Residents who extend their training immediately upon completion of residency training are considered residents and do not become eligible for active membership until completion of their fellowship.
AMA-YPS (Young Physician Section)
Delegates: 2
Term: One-year only
Any Active member of the AAFP who:

Any Active member of the AAFP who:
- fits the definition for the constituency (first eligible for active membership in the Academy less than seven years ago);
- is a member of the AMA and meets the AMA-YPS criteria (under 40 years of age OR 8 or fewer years in practice);
- AMA criteria must be met throughout the term of service, not just at the time of election;
- must be registered for and in attendance at NCSC and conform to the expectations and regulations of the position.
Special Constituency
Alternate Delegates: 6
