Get a fast overview of the opportunities for learning and networking during NC. Conference chairs Emily Briggs, MD, and Amy McIntyre, will highlight key events, new and different activities, and tips to make the most of your time.

Opening Session
Wednesday, July 30, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Join us in congratulating your peers during a special awards ceremony. Learn about the Academy’s current activities from AAFP President Jim King, MD, FAAFP. Hear an inspirational message from Richard Roberts, MD, JD, FAAFP, president-elect of the World Organization of Family Doctors. Then network at the Opening Social immediately following the program.

Opening Social
Wednesday, July 30, 7:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Immediately after Opening Session, join us for great food and company. Spend time visiting with old friends and making new ones. Mingle with students, family medicine residents, leaders, and educators from across the nation.

Spazmatics
National Conference Celebration
Friday, August 1, 9:00 p.m. - 12:30 a.m.
After you’ve enjoyed dinner out, join us at the Marriott for a celebration. Dance to the live new wave 80’s sounds of the Austin-based Spazmatics. A hit at last year’s NC, they’re back by popular demand. Enjoy the music and visit with friends while munching on light hors d’oeuvres.

Physicians with Heart Airlift Children’s Project
Wednesday, July 30 – Saturday, August 2
Support the good work of Physicians with Heart. Donate school supplies and personal hygiene items to the children of Kyrgyzstan. Requested items include new pencils, colored pencils, erasers, hairbrushes, and wide-tooth combs. Drop your donations in specially marked bins at the Convention Center.

Don’t have room in your suitcase? Make a monetary donation. Make your check payable to the AAFP Foundation International Fund and drop it off at the AAFP Foundation booth. Your contribution will help purchase much-needed items, such as food, hats, gloves, mittens, baby blankets, and other necessities requested by the orphanage. Learn more about Physicians with Heart.

Yoga
Thursday, July 31 – Saturday, August 2,
7:15 - 8:00 a.m.
Start your day relaxed and refreshed. A certified yoga instructor will guide you through simple beginner yoga stretches and strength moves. Bring your own mat or towel.

Donate Blood
Thursday, July 31 and Friday, August 1
10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Exhibit Hall
Save lives outside the hospital or clinic. Donate blood to benefit the Community Blood Center of Greater Kansas City. Help us reach our goal of 100 pints. The Community Blood Center has set up an e-donor site just for NC attendees. Make your appointment to donate. Please use the sponsor code: aafpconference.
