These include printed materials, programmed texts, audiotapes, videotapes, films, slides, CD ROMs, online, and computer-assisted instruction which are used alone or in combination. They include education disseminated by teleconferences, broadcasts by satellite or Internet, and software. These independent learning materials must, in themselves, constitute a planned CME activity. Handout materials designed to accompany a live presentation are not considered enduring materials by themselves. Enduring materials are designed primarily as self-study activities that may be used over time using different mediums. CME providers may seek a one or two year approval of AAFP CME credit. The two year term applies to one year of content, e.g., 2006 journals (January-December) would have two years of read time.
The review fee for enduring materials is determined by the number of credits being requested for approval and if the CME provider is requesting a one- or two-year approval of AAFP CME credit.
