Review Fees

The review fees are for review services rendered and are not refundable or transferable. Checks may be payable to AAFP. Mastercard, Visa, American Express and Discover are welcome. The review process begins once the review fee is paid in full.

Submitting an application online? CME providers are welcome to pay using a credit card or check. Once the activity information is entered online, providers will be able to select the desired payment option and print a receipt. When paying by check, providers must send the check and a copy of the receipt to AAFP. The review process begins once we receive payment in full.
A discount is provided for non-profit organizations. These organizations have a 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(6) status under the IRC, or are bona fide federal, state, or local governmental entities or agencies. A copy of the determination letter from the IRS must accompany the first CME application. This information will be kept on file.

Live Activity Applications

There are no fee distinctions between applications targeting state/regional and national/international audiences. For an activity repeated multiple times, the fee will be based on the number of times the identical activity is presented within one year of the first date listed on the application.

Performance Improvement in Practice Applications

Point of Care Applications

$100 Data Entry Fee


An additional $100 data entry fee is applied to the review fee if applications are submitted by mail, fax, or e-mail. You can save this data entry fee by submitting applications online. Get more information about how to apply online.

Re-Review of Applications


The processing fee is $100
for any CME application that needs to be re-reviewed by AAFP after the CME provider receives official credit determination from AAFP. Re-review of an application is necessary when the CME credits of an activity change. For example, an application would be re-reviewed if EB CME documentation was submitted after credit determination or if the agenda changed. This fee does not apply if there are changes to the date of the activity or the speaker(s), or when any additional dates are added.

Complete the Request for Re-Review form (1-page Word file; About Downloading) and submit with the revised CME application to AAFP.

Rush Fee


CME providers have the option to pay a rush fee to have their CME application reviewed faster than the standard 30 business days (6 weeks). The rush fee is $500 plus the review fee. The $100 data entry fee will also be applied if the application is submitted by mail, fax, or e-mail. CME providers who pay the rush fee will be contacted once AAFP receives the application. At that time, the review coordinator will determine how long the review process will take. Typically, the rush review process will take 5-10 business days.
