Needs-based CME
AAFP CME content includes current research and clinical practice guidelines presented with quantifiable levels of evidence relevant to family physicians.
Data is analyzed from a variety of sources to ensure education is designed that accurately and consistently improves practice and is compliance with ACCME guidelines.
Based on the identified need, educational learning objectives are constructed to decrease or eliminate gaps to improve competency and performance. Outcome measures are selected based on appropriate feedback mechanisms to evaluate improvement in physicians' knowledge, competence or performance following the CME intervention. This feedback allows the learner to identify improvement and further explore educational opportunities to continually enhance their performance and close remaining gaps. Additionally, these measures are reviewed and incorporated in the planning phase for future CME content design to ensure continuous improvement in the CME the AAFP delivers.
