Summary
This 60-minute, lecture-based presentation addresses healthy behavior changes to reduce patient risk of developing hypertension or prehypertension; assesses barriers to care and identifies tools to help address hypertension; and discusses treatment regimens for patients with poorly controlled, difficult-to-control or resistant hypertension.

Peter J. Ziemkowski, MD, is an associate professor and the family medicine clerkship director in the Department of Family Medicine, College of Human Medicine, at Michigan State University, Kalamazoo. Dr Ziemkowski earned a medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine, Urbana, and completed fellowships in medical informatics at the Center for Applied Medical Informatics, Michigan State University/Kalamazoo Center for Medical Studies, and in primary care faculty development at Michigan State University.
