This lecture-based presentation addresses issues of education, prevention, treatment, and management of ischemic stroke.

After completing this CME activity, you should be able to:
- Formulate plans to assist patients with underling risk factors for stroke in making behavioral modifications (such as smoking, lowering high blood pressure) to decrease their risk of having a stroke
- Evaluate strategies to educate patients on the warning signs of a stroke and integrate cultural competency into conversations with patients
- Propose appropriate treatment options to improve outcomes in patients who suffer a stroke
- Assist patients and caregivers in identifying resources and dealing with the after- effects of stroke
