Diabetes Mellitus Screening and Diagnosis: Early Catch Saves the Day—Prevention of Progression to Type 2 Diabetes

This lecture-based presentation addresses diabetes screening and diagnosis and methods to prevent progression to type 2 diabetes.

After completing this CME activity, you should be able to:
  1. Evaluate asymptomatic adults and children with risk factors for diabetes using the ADA’s diagnostic criteria.
  2. Follow the ADA screening recommendations for gestational diabetes.
  3. Develop a disease management plan based on the type of diabetes and any diabetes-related complications that are present in patients.
  4. Integrate PCPI performance measures for diabetes care in appropriate patient visits.
