Herpes Zoster - Shingles Webcast

Almost 1 out of every 3 people in the United States will develop shingles, also known as zoster or herpes zoster. This free online CME activity for AAFP members will compare the signs and symptoms of shingles in symptomatic patients.




This CME activity is presented by Edward J. Mayeaux, Jr., MD, DABFP, FAAFP.

After completing this CME activity, you should be able to:
  1. Compare the signs and symptoms of shingles in symptomatic patients.
  2. Utilize appropriate diagnostic tests such as skin cultures and HIV tests when appropriate to confirm a shingles diagnosis.
  3. Formulate treatment plans for patients with shingles based on the severity of their condition.
  4. Advise patients of appropriate vaccinations for varicella and/or varicella-zoster viruses when necessary.
