Penelope LaRocque, is a senior associate editor with the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP).

J. Mark Beard, MD, who served as consulting author for this CME Bulletin, is an assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine Residency Section at the University of Washington School of Medicine, Seattle. Dr. Beard completed medical school at the University of Missouri at Columbia and residency at Providence Hospital in Seattle, WA. His areas of expertise include diabetes, procedural training, women’s and reproductive health, and musculoskeletal medicine.

Matthew L. Mintz, MD, FACP, who served as the medical editor for this CME Bulletin, is an associate professor in the Department of Medicine at George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, DC. Dr. Mintz is a member of the Society of General Internal Medicine and is a Fellow in the American College of Physicians. He has published in peer-reviewed journals on topics including asthma, diabetes, dyslipidemia, and medical education, and is the author of Disorders of the Respiratory Tract: Common Challenges in Primary Care.
