Acute Coronary Syndrome Series

Series Overview

This four-part series is intended to assist family physicians in the evaluation and management of patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). The spectrum of conditions spanned by the term ACS includes unstable angina, non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) and ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).

Series Objectives

The series will review ACC/AHA clinical practice guidelines and other evidence-based recommendations. Application of these recommendations with carefully reasoned clinical judgment can help reduce the risk of cardiac damage and death in patients who present with ACS.

Accessing the CME Activities

LearningLink is hosted by AAFP's technology partner MedEdArchitects. To access the activities (and to allow us to track learner progress through the program), you will need a LearningLink account. The only information required is your name, email address and member status. Create a LearningLink account.
Activity 1: Chest Pain: What to Do with ACS? -- The first in a series addressing the challenges of assessing and managing acute coronary syndrome (ACS), this activity reviews the current evidence and summarizes the evidence-based recommendations.
Activity 2: Antiplatelet Therapy in ACS: What’s Best Practice? -- The second in a series addressing the challenges of assessing and managing acute coronary syndrome (ACS), this activity reviews common clinical questions family physicians have about antiplatelet therapy.
Activity 3: Achieving Optimal Outcomes After ACS -- The third in a series addressing the challenges of assessing and managing acute coronary syndrome (ACS), this activity focuses on how to improve outcomes with information and tools that facilitate the application of evidence-based recommendations in practice.
Activity 4: Case Studies in ACS -- The fourth in a series addressing the challenges of assessing and managing acute coronary syndrome (ACS), this activity uses patient cases to review the fundamentals in ACS care discussed in the previous activities and to highlight specific management concerns.
