Activity 3: Role of Diabetes Education in Improving Outcomes in Type 2 Diabetes
The third in a series addressing the challenges of managing type 2 diabetes, this activity highlights the essential elements of diabetes education and patient self-management. Video dramatizations illustrate how to instruct patients about blood glucose monitoring and insulin injection technique.
Learning Objectives
After completing this activity, the learner will be able to:
- Integrate diabetes education into the care of patients with type 2 diabetes, including patients with disabilities such as vision impairment
- Provide proper instruction regarding insulin injection and self-monitoring of blood glucose
- Prepare patients for managing hypoglycemia and intercurrent illness
