AAFP’s Center for Health Information Technology -- The Center for Health Information Technology is the focal point of the AAFP's technical expertise, advocacy, research, and member services associated with medical office automation and computerization. Its mission is to promote and facilitate the adoption and optimal use of health information technology by AAFP members and other office-based clinicians for the purposes of improving the quality and safety of medical care and increasing the efficiency of medical practice.

Physician Product Reviewer -- The Center for Health Information Technology offers resources to help physicians with all aspects of EHR adoption. One resource, in particular, is the Physician Product Reviewer that contains more than 700 reviews of EHRs by AAFP members.

Federal Health IT Incentives -- This page contains information about the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, which includes the maximum $44,000 incentive for physicians who adopt certified EHR technology and demonstrate meaningful use. The page also contains information about the Medicare e-prescribing incentive program.

EHR Guide -- No matter where physicians are in the process of adopting an EHR, the AAFP Center for Health IT has resources to help. This guide walks them through the four major steps of EHR adoption.

Electronic Prescribing Readiness Assessment -- This assessment currently is being conducted across the country – in collaboration with the AAFP and other nationally recognized provider associations.
