The AAFP has developed two online continuing medical education (CME) cases on respiratory infections. These cases address appropriate antibiotic use in the treatment of respiratory infections such as acute bronchitis and community-acquired pneumonia.
The cases will be live on the Internet on March 25, 2004. To access the cases, visit http://www.aafp.org/onlinecme.xml. Both cases will be available for one year to AAFP members, members of the American Osteopathic association and other visitors at http://www.aafp.org. The cases carry both AAFP and AOA credit.
This endeavor is supported by an unrestricted educational grant from Purdue Pharma L.P. Purdue Pharma L.P. and its associated U.S. companies are privately held pharmaceutical companies known for pioneering research on persistent pain. Headquartered in Stamford, Conn., Purdue is engaged in the research, development production and distribution of both prescription and over-the-counter medicines and hospital products. Additional information about Purdue can be found at http://www.purduepharma.com.

Founded in 1947, the AAFP represents 110,600 physicians and medical students nationwide. It is the only medical society devoted solely to primary care.
Approximately one in four of all office visits are made to family physicians. That is 240 million office visits each year — nearly 87 million more than the next largest medical specialty. Today, family physicians provide more care for America’s underserved and rural populations than any other medical specialty. Family medicine’s cornerstone is an ongoing, personal patient-physician relationship focused on integrated care.
