Chapter Membership Awards -- These awards recognize chapters for outstanding recruitment and retention efforts.

AAFP Distinguished Service Award -- This award recognizes long-time dedication to furthering the specialty of family medicine.

Executive Service Award -- This award recognizes chapter executives with 25 years of service.

Exemplary Teaching Awards -- These awards recognize exemplary teaching skills, the implementation of outstanding educational programs and the development of innovative teaching models.

Family Physician of the Year -- This award recognizes involvement in community affairs and activities that enhance the quality of life of the community.

Family Medicine Research Presentations -- This award honors on-site oral paper presentations at the AAFP Scientific Assembly.

First-time Student Attendee Award -- This award provides grants to up to 20 students to attend their first National Conference.

Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) Leadership Scholarship Program -- This program provides scholarships to medical students to attend the National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students.

H. Winter Griffith Award -- This award recognizes excellence in written patient education materials produced by an individual or organization.

Honorary Membership -- This award recognizes outstanding service to the AAFP or the medical profession.

Humanitarian Award -- This award recognizes extraordinary and enduring humanitarian efforts.

John G. Walsh Award for Lifetime Contributions to Family Medicine -- This award recognizes dedication and leadership that furthers the development of family medicine.

Minority Scholarships Program for Residents and Medical Students -- Grants are provided to medical students and residents to attend the National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students.

AAFP Award for National Leadership in Government Service -- This award commends exceptional individual leadership.

Outstanding Service Award -- This award recognizes vendors, suppliers, and companies that support the medical profession or their employees, and members of the AAFP national staff who have fostered the mission of family medicine through contributions of time, effort or resources.

Patient Care Award for Excellence in Patient Education Innovation -- This award recognizes excellence in the development of patient education strategies for primary care.

Patient Education Conference Awards -- These awards provide grants to cover the cost of registration for the conference.

Pfizer Teacher Development Award -- This award is designed to stimulate interest in teaching family medicine on a part-time basis.

Physicians With Heart Resident Scholarship (Administered by the AAFP Foundation)

Pisacano Leadership Foundation, Inc. -- The Pisacano Scholars Program -- This program provides funding for outstanding third- or fourth-year medical students for a four- or five-year period.

Poster Presentation Grants for the 2008 AAFP Scientific Assembly -- This award provides grants to help defray travel costs of bringing an exhibit to the AAFP Scientific Assembly.

President's Award -- This award honors exemplary dedication to the improvement of health care through the advancement of the objectives and purposes of the AAFP, as outlined in the Academy Bylaws.

President's Certificate -- This certificate recognizes extraordinary support and assistance to the AAFP President during his or her presidential year.

Public Health Award -- This award recognizes extraordinary contributions to the American public's health.

Resident Community Outreach Award -- This award recognizes residents for active involvement in community service projects.

Resident Research Grants and Paper Presentation Forum (Administered by the AAFP Foundation) -- Up to $2,000 in funding is available for a maximum of 10 research projects.

Robert Graham Family Physician Executive Award -- This award recognizes an outstanding family physician for his or her role as a physician executive.

Scientific Exhibit Awards (on-site awards) at the AAFP Scientific Assembly -- This award honors AAFP Annual Assembly exhibits for organization, purpose and relevance to family medicine.

Student Community Outreach Award -- This award recognizes medical students for active involvement in community service or advocacy projects.

James G. Jones, M.D., Student Health Policy Scholarship (Administered by the AAFP Foundation) -- This award provides funds for a medical student to attend the Family Medicine Congressional Conference (FMCC) sponsored jointly by the AAFP and the Academic Family Medicine Advocacy Alliance.

Student Research Externship Matching Grants Program -- This award provides 50 percent of the funds required for the Research Externships on a matching grant basis.

Target School Fund -- This award provides grants to students to attend the National Conference.

Thomas W. Johnson Award for Career Contributions to Family Medicine Education -- This award recognizes outstanding contributions to family medicine education in undergraduate, graduate and continuing education spheres.

Tomorrow's Leader Award -- This award provides scholarships to residents and medical students to attend the National Conference of Family Practice Residents and Medical Students.
