AAFP FMIG Student Membership Coordinators (SMC) are the liaisons between Family Medicine Interest Groups (FMIGs) and the AAFP for the academic year. At the beginning of each academic year, the FMIG can appoint one member of the FMIG to be the AAFP Student Membership Coordinator.
Eligibility Requirements
1. Appoint a member of your Family Medicine Interest Group to be your liaison for the AAFP FMIG Student Membership program.

- The Student Membership Coordinator must be an AAFP Student member
- The Student Membership Coordinator must fill out an AAFP Student Membership Coordinator application.(2-page PDF file; About PDFs)
- The SMC application must be sent to the Member Relations Specialist at the National AAFP.
2. The appointed FMIG liaison will need to fill out an AAFP Student Membership Coordinator information form and send it into the AAFP to be kept on file for the academic year.

Recruitment Resources
Each coordinator will receive a packet from the AAFP for the FMIG containing student membership and family medicine interest materials.
Timeline
The timeline for the AAFP Student Membership Coordinator position is May through the following April (i.e., May 1, 2013-April 30, 2014).
The number of new student members that are recruited during this time is counted when determining recruitment numbers for incentives.

- 25 New AAFP student applications – $25
- 50 New AAFP student applications – $50
- 75 New AAFP student applications – $75
- 100 New AAFP student applications – $100
- 150 New AAFP student applications – $150
Student Membership Coordinator Incentives
Student Membership Coordinators will receive a $25 Amazon gift card each time their FMIG earns an incentive.
