Difficulty: Easy -- Needs ongoing support
Outcome: Greater patient awareness
Steps
Hold a Team Meeting
Schedule at least one team meeting and maybe as many as four -- allow at least 30 minutes to an hour for the first one. Getting everyone "on the same page" will be the goal for the first meeting; subsequent meetings will be about executing on the plan.
Create a Promotional Plan
Download this list of questions to get the discussion going and to give structure to the decisions (1-page Word document; About downloading files).
Execute on the Plan
Depending on the decisions you make for the promotional plan, assign staff to make sure the promotional messages get out, using the tools you agreed to use.
What You'll Need
- Decision-making authority
- Time for staff meetings (1 to 4 hours)
- Questions to shape your promotional plan
- Money (if you'll be creating new promotional materials)
Where to Go for Help
If you and your staff don't have the time or the inclination to pursue all the steps listed above, consider hiring a practice marketing consultant.
- The AAFP Buyer's Guide can help you find a consultant.
- MGMA's Health Care Consulting Group (the Operational Efficiency staff focuses on communications, among other issues)
