Federal Advocacy
Any complex challenge requires not one solution but many, not one champion but thousands. So it is with the issues facing family medicine and family physicians. As our specialty faces challenges on many fronts, the AAFP uses these tools to bring about change:
- government relations
- grassroots efforts
- political action committee
On the ground in Washington, D.C., the AAFP's Government Relations staff meets with legislators, educates decision-makers, and increases awareness of family medicine issues. Grassroots efforts use the power of 94,000 family physician members and give those members an outlet for advocacy. FamMedPAC is the only political action committee dedicated exclusively to family medicine. Each draws upon different strengths to advocate for you.
