Health information technology is a critical element in improving health care delivery in the United States. Due to its high cost for physicians, the AAFP supported grants to providers to purchase health information technology.
We believe that health information technology should be made more easily available to the nation's primary health care providers, who see the majority of patients in the United States. We also support privacy protections for patients and legislation that allows health care information to flow freely through the system, including physicians, patients and pharmacies.
