Family Medicine Matters
To patients, to communities, and to the entire health care system.
What's the Key Message?
Congress finally reached an agreement before the end of last year, when the 27.4% Medicare pay cut would have taken effect. However, this short-term fix is scheduled to expire on February 29.
Unless Congress acts now, family physicians will receive nearly a third less in their Medicare payments.
Right now, a special committee of 20 legislators is working toward a legislative solution. Unless Congress repeals the flawed SGR formula once and for all, we face only financial uncertainty and budget politics. Our patients and communities deserve better.

Tell Congress to Repeal the SGR Now
Send a letter to your legislators today and speak out! Add your voice as we tell Congress how their short-term fixes are seriously affecting family medicine. We must continue to stand up for our patients, practices, and profession.
Tell Your Story
Real stories bring the challenges facing family medicine to life for the people on Capitol Hill. Why does family medicine matter to you? How will the possible 27.4% cut in Medicare payments affect you and your patients? What will fewer residency programs mean for your training? What will funding decreases for family medicine medical programs mean for your studies?
Your firsthand experiences will provide much-needed context for the health care debate. Please submit your story now.
