Discrimination, Physician
The AAFP strongly supports the principle that hiring, credentialing and privileging decisions for physicians should be based solely on verifiable professional criteria.
The Academy supports the application of this principle for both practicing physicians and for physicians and medical students applying to residency training programs. The Academy believes that by encouraging diversity in their physician workforces, physician groups and health care systems can help ensure their ability to deliver culturally competent care to all segments of their patient populations. (1996) (2010 COD)
