Health Care Facility Visitation Rights of Patients

The AAFP supports the rights of patients to designate hospital and other health care facility visitors, including individuals designated by legally valid advanced directives, to privileges that are no more restrictive than those of immediate family members. Consideration should be taken if there is a suspicion of domestic violence. (May 2011 Board)
