Motor Vehicle Occupant Protection

The American Academy of Family Physicians strongly endorses the appropriate use of seat restraints by all occupants -- children and adults -- of motor vehicles, and encourages its members to take an active role in developing strategies to promote increased use and availability of restraint systems including air bags. The American Academy of Family Physicians supports primary enforcement of occupant restraint system legislation, encourages authorities to document the use of occupant restraint systems and the media to report usage as appropriate.
