The AAFP believes that family physicians have the education, training and experience to read electrocardiograms and should be eligible for privileges to interpret electrocardiograms in the hospital. Where local tests are utilized to establish current competency, the use of such tests should apply equally to all physicians regardless of specialty. (1982) (2010 COD)
