The AAFP calls on medical schools, state governments and the federal government to expand financial incentives that support student choice of family medicine including:
  1. scholarship programs for students that, upon admission, commit to family medicine and service in underserved communities
  2. medical student educational loan forgiveness programs, and
  3. low-interest loan programs for family physicians.
