CMS has released the final HIPAA-mandated code set implementation date for the International Classification of Diseases, 10th revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM) as October 1, 2014.
This one-year delay will allow practices and insurance companies to prepare for the significant change in diagnosis coding.
In the coming months, the AAFP will be posting tools and articles to assist practices with the preparation and change to this new system.
