Honors, Awards Given During 2009 Annual Assembly

Each year at the AAFP Assembly, the Academy recognizes members and others for their outstanding contributions to family medicine. The following persons were honored during this year's Assembly.
- 2010 Family Physician of the Year -- Karl Watts, M.D., of Boise, Idaho
- Thomas W. Johnson Award for Career Contributions to Family Medicine Education -- Paul Young, M.D., of Lexington, Ky.
- Exemplary Teaching Awards -- Randall Longenecker, M.D., of Bellefontaine, Ohio (full-time faculty); Barbara Coats, M.D., of Wichita, Kan. (volunteer faculty)
- AAFP Public Health Award -- Rani Whitfield, M.D., of Baton Rouge, La.
- Robert Graham Physician Executive Award -- John Little, M.D., of Columbia, S.C.
